Whilst the day-to-day role of a plumbing and heating engineer can be quite varied, we’ve introduced a regular feature to get to know each and every member of our team here at MAP Mechanical.

Coffee
Perks of the job?
The management team at MAP Mechanical are really proactive with training and keeping up to date with the latest changes in our industry. I’m interested to continue to follow how the renewables technology develops over the years.
What are your usual working hours?
My working hours vary according to what work we have on and the location we are working in. It can be anywhere between 8 and 12 hours per day.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Every day is different but the most common jobs I deal with are mostly related to domestic customers. My work involves organising the workload for our staff to attend as well as myself. I also carry out domestic work, which includes boiler installations, repairs and servicing.
What do you enjoy doing the most?
Whilst I work mainly with the domestic side of the business, I also really enjoy working with the commercial side of the business. I like how it’s on a much bigger scale than domestic, there is so much to think about and challenge your skills.
The business has recently started offering renewables and I’ve found this interesting and believe that our industry is leaning towards this type of energy production.
Is there a least favourite task in your role?
I dislike doing anything to do with swapping macerators, as it’s not particularly pleasant. But it’s just part and parcel of being a plumber.
